Initially, I wasn’t planning to create this section since I don’t like leaving personal information on the internet. But at some point, I realized that a little context about a person really helps with making connections - at least when I’m browsing other people’s websites in the small web, I feel it. Besides, my weblog is already quite personal, so this won’t make much of a difference. I often communicate via email, and having an idea of each other’s background allows for a much richer dialogue and a stronger connection. I'll probably change this page over time, but here's some basic info.
- A picture of me:
- A short list of things I like:
- mornings – the best time of day, especially around 6 am.
- small web – one of my most valuable discoveries in the past few years.
- minimalism – in a healthy way, not sterile: quality over quantity.
- music and movies – i have a huge collection of both and could talk about them 24/7.
- being on the road – it feels more like home than home itself.
- complicated systems – modular synthesis, touchdesigner - basically anything with nodes.
- internet / media artifacts – everything weird, creative, and hidden from plain sight.
- tinkering, building, and creating – web, software, linux, music, visuals, woodworking, etc.
- gardening, sustainability, manual work – one day, I want to own land and build a house.
- And some life background:
I'm in my mid-20s, and for the last three years, I've been living as an immigrant. It has been the most wonderful, insightful, and sometimes tough experience of my life, and I’m really glad I had the chance to go through it. I plan to travel more and try living in other countries for the next n years. It truly feels like a mind-opening experience - living among people from different cultures and understanding them brings you much closer to others. I feel like it's much easier to be enemies with someone you've never met than with someone you've shared a meal with. Everybody's different, but we're all part of the same thing. Right now, I’m sorting out documents, banks, and other legal aspects to make future plans work.
Originally, I worked as an audio-visual technician at economic forums and events - handling mixing consoles, microphone setups, LED panels, simultaneous translation systems - all this stuff. But then COVID happened, and I switched to music production and mixing, which I had already been doing on the side as a hobby. At first, it was fun, but after a few years, I realized that turning something you really love into a career - where you have much less freedom and creativity - is not always the best idea. I know some people who made it work, but I couldn’t.
After immigrating, I had to find a remote job quickly to make a living, so I switched to video editing. It was the most accessible option at the time, and I'm still doing it now. Over the next few years, my goal is to learn motion graphics and the basics of design. I love creating visual things, and I feel like this is the right trajectory for me at the moment. I wrote more about it in the post with flying stones, so check it out if you're interested.
One thing I don’t like about my current job and hobbies is that everything is tied to sitting in front of a screen. But given my immigration situation, it's my only option for now. In the future, I’d love to find something more connected to the real world, but time will tell.
